There you go. That's why it's broken. It looks like the programmer was
simply trying to rearrange the order if end < start. I know my code works
so it's not the card (obviously).

According to docs somewhere the GUS MIDI SysEx ID is in each patch file.
It's the ... you've got the beta SDK (can we say "trash"?) so check out
page ... that's right, no page numbers. Okay, the second page in App. F,
second member, gravis_id[10], "...containing Gravis' system exclusive
midi [sic, heck, let's just sic the whole SDK, heh!] ID:".
